Hi I'm Mildredmost. I'm mostly in small fandoms, and lean towards historical canons, especially books.

I have no particular subscribe policy, just comment here and say hello, or dive into any of the unlocked posts. Or lurk forever! Nothing wrong with a good lurk. I usually follow/grant access back. Mind you, the only things currently under lock are some old and tragic fic and a few old exchange letters. I also have anon commenting on.

My fic is all on AO3 here: MildredMost except this one orig fic (WIP) which I'm archiving here: [personal profile] emirandivan - It's a fantasy arranged marriage fic which I am determined to finish!

My Tumblr is here

I'm delighted for my fic to be translated, pod-ficced, drawn etc. Just let me know and drop me a link.

Clio and Mireille discussed my Jane Austen fic Thorough-bass and Human Nature on their podcast Clio/Mireille: A Fanfiction Podcast, which I was thrilled about! The episode is here. Their podcast is really fun, thoughtful and interesting and has introduced me to all sorts of fic.

Hello to whoever has been assigned to me! I made a last minute decision to sign up, so have put all my additional details in this letter. But of course, these are only ideas - if you have a story you want to tell about the characters I've requested that don't fit any of my prompts, please go for it!

Last minute decision to sign up for this exchange so my letter is a bit briefer than usual!

As always, the prompts are here in case you want a bit of inspiration. If you have a different story you want to tell about the characters and pairings I've chosen, or a piece of art you feel inspired to create, then please feel free to ignore the prompts entirely.

The Goblin Emperor Series - Katherine Addison: Thara Celehar/Iäna Pel-Thenhior

I love the whole Goblin Emperor series, but there is something about the big city setting of the Witness for the Dead books that I absolutely adore. I love the grandeur of the Opera and the seediness of the docks area, the river, the tea houses, the stray cats and the graveyards.

Thara and Iana's tentative courtship is a huge part of my enjoyment of these books. Thara is so alone, and here is this warm presence who appreciates him and his very dry manner, and complete lack of care about himself!

I know they both feel more for each other than they can admit, so any story around this would be much appreciated. Or just plain old hurt/comfort with Thara managing to get a decent night's sleep at long last! Smut is very much welcome, as is any physical affection! Also Iäna is so self assured usually, it would be interesting to see his vulnerabilities - especially around his feelings for Thara - revealed, and how Thara reacts to that, seeing as he is only beginning to emerge from his extreme self-protective mode, and is still so deeply sad. Experiencing Thara coming to terms with the trauma and guilt of his past just gets me deep in my heart, and I want any little bit of happiness for him. I'm also a huge fan of repressed characters just giving way to their passions and fucking madly too, so there's that :)

Art: ANY kind of city scene would be amazing. Or them sitting together in a tea house, or at the opera. I love Amalo and see it as a character in itself!

Crossovers:
Quincey Morris (Dracula) & Frankenstein's Monster (Frankenstein)
Edward Hyde (Jekyll & Hyde)/Dorian Gray (Dorian Gray)
Jonathan Harker (Dracula) & Gabriel John Utterson (Jekyll & Hyde)

I love/am fascinated by all these characters, so you really can't go far wrong here.

For Quincey and the Monster, I'd love to know how they meet - the monster does travel the wilds of Russia and Tartary and does a bit of sea travel to the Black Sea, could Quincey come across him then, while Victor is still in pursuit? Do they find themselves travelling across Europe together, both pursued and in pursuit? How does Quincey react to the monster - fear or curiosity? Please feel free to write post-canon "Quincey lives!" fic by the way. Or "Quincey is resurrected by dodgy methods and comes back confused and can only relate to Frankenstein's monster!" fic.

Dorian Gray and Hyde - I feel like Dorian would be strongly drawn to Hyde's general wrongness. And Hyde who is used to repulsing people would be similarly attracted (also, it's Dorian Gray. He gives everyone a boner at a thousand paces). I'd love to see how Dorian might repress Hyde's instinct of violence when they meet, or twist it. Also they both indulge in unsaid "vices" in their respective novels, so I'd happily see which "vices" they indulge in with each other. Perhaps Dorian introduces Hyde to sensualism - the HORROR!

Jonathan Harker and Mr Utterson - two perplexed and earnest lawyers dealing with horrifying situations. I honestly would love anything at all about how they know each other (Support Group for Lawyers who have Drafted Legal Papers for Monsters?) or how they meet. Do Dracula and Hyde cross paths somehow, leading Utterson and Harker on their trail? Do they work together when one realises what the other is dealing with? Or are they just telling scary stories to each other over brandy and cigars at their Club?

For Art - I hope these prompts give ideas for art of these characters too. But just to see these characters in art together in the first place would be a treat enough!

I haven't used my account for anything other than exchange letters in an age. I've dialled back my participation in exchanges (sadly for me!) because RL keeps scuppering me. But I would like to use this as more of a journal again.

Anyway - I will start myself with a meme: Go through your last 5 fics and share the first and last line. Provide no context.

In Chancery

It was a freezing November morning in Middle Temple, and Oliver Greenfield, with a slight lack of dignity for a barrister, was stamping some warmth back into his feet.

"Pity," Teddy said, but he moved over and settled his head on the pillow and arm around Oliver as if he'd been there always.

Yesterday Upon the Stair

Ron slipped into the morning meeting ten minutes late and with hope in his heart.

Ron laughed and hitched him a little closer as he walked out of Malfoy Manor and kicked the broken door shut behind them.

Schneegestöber

They had been working all day without ceasing, pouring over old case files, looking for a clue.

Max laughed back. "I told you. Phallic," he said, before taking Oskar's arm again and letting Oskar lead him home.

Paris to Varna

The sway of the train was making Arthur nod over the copy of The Times he had managed to purchase in Paris.

Jack said nothing, but only smiled as they drew Arthur close again.

Deadly Communion

It had begun on All Hallow’s Eve, this trouble.

And Oskar could do nothing but obey.

(It's funny that sandwiched between a couple of fairly ordinary sentences is a huge amount of smut for most of these!)

Just to say that I'm currently on holiday with fairly awful wifi access, and not sure when I'll get the opportunity to comment on my gifts for RMSE. Which is driving me crazy because I can't wait to read them! But hopefully I will get the chance to read and comment on them by the end of the coming week.
